I remember loving the “Love is….” cartoons when I was younger. There were a multitude of possible endings that come after those three little dots. There are so many different meanings and types of love that sometimes it is difficult to find the answer to the question – what is love?

Love is an energy or feeling that is experienced within when you accept and embrace yourself completely and unconditionally – both your brilliance and your flaws. Self-love initiates in your own heart centre and following your heart can be a powerful force for healing and change. Unhealed wounds or unresolved traumas can keep you seeking love from an external source .At first this may appear to meet your need for love, but can often result in disappointment and heart – break when the original wound may be triggered once again…that is until it is healed from within.

After 12 years of marriage, a divorce, a series of relationships over the years and actively journeying to heal and discover self-love, my understanding of love has morphed and evolved over time. This piece is a reminder that the pathway to love always lies within healing your own precious heart.
